They call this savage land split between Argentina and Chile “The End of the Earth,” and Patagonia definitely lives up to its billing. A rugged frontier distinguished by the granite teeth of Torres del Paine, the massive Perito Moreno Glacier, rocky landscapes that change color, El Calafate’s gaucho spirit, and impossibly wide-open skies, Patagonia feels like where Earth starts than where it ends.
Begin in Buenos Aires, Argentina’s modern capital. Explore the highlights of this cosmopolitan city, from the sophisticated Recoleta neighborhood to charming San Telmo and trendy Palermo. From there, your private tour continues in the town of El Calafate, deep in the Patagonian Steppe. This is the perfect base to explore the famous Perito Moreno glacier, located within Glaciers National Park.
There, walk the catwalks, enjoy a boating excursion to witness the glacier up close, or even trek on the glacier itself. Your Patagonia adventure continues as you are transferred to the Chilean Patagonia at Torres del Paine National Park. Spend the following days exploring the best trails of the region. The highlight will be hike to the Base of the Towers for impressive, up-close views of the Paine Massif. Trace the maritime journey of Herman Melville around Cape Horn and Tierra del Fuego. Meander the markets and savor regional cuisine, to get a snapshot of the food culture.
